It all depends on the type of place you work. I interned in the HR department of a hospital in Alabama and the recruiters always tried to keep up with what others in the martket were paying, which was sometimes hard. At the particular hospital that I interned at, LPNs started out with $12/hr. Other places in the area such as mental institutions were paying about $4 or $5 dollars more for people on the exact same level. I guess you would have to consider other factors besides the pay to determine the best option though.

The median in Alabama is between $27,600 and $30,100 depending on where you are.
Hourly, that'd be about $14.50
Much depends on where you go to work though, some employers tend to pay more than others for the same license.
