Are Lpn Jobs Primarily In Nursing Homes?

I would like to maybe go to school to be an LPN but I don’t want to work in a nursing home or a long term care facility. Is it hard to find a job in a hospital or doctor’s office as an LPN?

    yes.. because hospitals usually hires RN but you can also try Psych/ behavioral department. They hire a lot of LPNS there.
    For doctors office its hard,too because they usually hire Medical assistant. Medical assistants get paid less compare to LPNS thats why clinics hire mostly medical asst.
    My husband is an LPN but he works in a hospital, behavioral health. He sometimes comes home w bruises from crazy patients. Unless you’re willing to deal w mentally disturbed patients, then you have no prob working in a psych hospital.
    Although some hospitals hires LPNs but not much as an RN.

    I think it depends on which state you live in. I wouldn’t want to work in a nursing home either but as an LPN I do work in an Assisted Living facility and I love it! The elderly people I care for are very much “with it” and because it is a long term facility, I get to know them very well and form close bonds with many of them. My responsibilities there include medication administration, home health aide supervision and any treatments needed (but unlike nursing homes, there are not many treatments). Where I live, (upstate NY), the doctor offices hire mostly LPN’s so it wouldn’t be difficult to find employment in a doctor’s office for me. I suggest you look into urgent care settings and actually go to some assisted living facilities for a tour, you may be surprised at what you find. Good luck to you!

    I agree with Iris first paragraph. Most jobs are in nursing homes. Office jobs are hard to come by and your pay would be closer to a CNA’s pay.
    However, there are some other jobs besides psych Hospital jobs. You could work for group homes for the mentally retarded and developmentally disabled. You can also work in homes through an agency or privately, you can make good money doing that. Some work for employment services. But remember most of the jobs are in long term care facilities.

    Know such jobs exact for an LPN. You could work in a doctors office but these are hard to find because they hire nursing assistants.
