Are LPN/LVNs having a hard time finding jobs?

I’m actually going to go to college to become an LPN/LVN (Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse).
I’m curious to know if there are any LPNs having trouble getting a job…or how the market is for right now. Can you tell me what area/state you live in as well? Currently, I am in NYC. I’m hearing a lot of talk about LPNs losing their jobs to Medical Assistants because apparently they are cheaper labor…but I dunno.

Please help!

PS. Please don’t give a generalized statement about Nurses…we all know REGISTERED Nurses are in VERY high demand…there’s a difference between Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses…so please answer accordingly if you don’t mind :). Thanks
