Can A Nurse Licensed In Georgia Work In California?

My girlfriend and I are thinking about a move to the west coast. She is currently in school to be a LPN and wants to be a RN eventually. We need to know if she can work in Cali on her degree from Georgia, or if she will need extra classes, or if it would be better just to go on and start the program anew there. Any help, or direction to help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. In some States, the State has reciprocity with other States Have her call the Department of Medical Licensing in the State you are moving and you can find out.

  2. In most states you have to be licensed in the state in which you are working. If she has an LPN license in Georgia and you move to California she will have to take the “boards” in California to work there! The best thing to do is contact the Department of Public health for California to see what needs to be done!
