Certified Nursing Assistant?
This Question From Florida LPN Programs | 2 Answers
I am pursuing to be and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) I am currently waiting for my Financial Aid results from Florida Community College at Jacksonville in Jacksonville, FL. Which may take a while until then I will have to wait until my appeal goes through because Jacksonville has very limited training schools for Nurses. Any who, I have looked up a few jobs and they do require for you to have some kind of medical experience. Will becoming a CNA help me to gain some of that experience until I am able to start the program to be an LPN. Do you actually have to take an CNA course that’s 0-0 to train. I have a aunt who is a CNA that is willing to train and show me what to do to be able to take the State Board Exam?

unless you need to work while you are in school, skin the cna its a waste of money. your aunt should be able to tell you what you need to know as long as she is awared of the standazrds of care that your state has set for passing cna certification. you will basically learn to do everything a cna does in nsg 101 basic personal hygiene skills for your patients and activities of daily living requirements.good luck with your studies, i started out as a candy striper then cna, when my husband and i split up i wanted a career that would last a lifetime and theat is what i got I graduated from LPN school many years ago and I am now the shift supervisr making more money than my huband used to make. it is a rwarding and fullfilling career path. good luck
One of our sons became a CNA and got a lot of good experience. They don’t make much money but they find out if they like that kind of work or not. From there he got his LPN and is now working on his RN. He was working his own business while working as a CNA and then continued his own business while working as a LPN. He works in nursing homes and has found more opportunity there and better pay as a LPN.
Not all hospitals will hire LPNs so if your goal is work in a hospital then you need to work toward getting your RN. By the way, my wife is a RN and there are better opportunities for RNs.
