Does Anyone Know If Onlines Courses For Nursing (rn) Are Still Acceptable In Maryland?
This Question From Maryland LPN Programs | 2 Answers
I am currently an LPN looking for options to progress to my RN by taking online classes because I have to continue working at the same time and don’t have the time to sit in a classroom all week. I live in Towson, Md. and I am new to the area. Please help! I do have to take the prerequisites again since I have been out of school longer than 10 years. What would you suggest?

Personally I would suggest getting a job at Johns Hopkins or the U of Maryland both of them pay your tuition if you work for them and bot are top notch to work at. As far a LPNs go I am not sure, but the RN-BSN is just one day a week. Good luck.
I believe that classroom experience is much needed when going for a degree in nursing (or other direct-care allied health professions). And just a word to the wise, those ‘online courses’ such as from University of Phoenix, Kaplan University, Devry U and Strayer U are not looked upon as reputable by employers. There are some RN programs that have accelerated/advanced mobility for those that are LPN’s. You may be able to take some of the general prerequisite courses online (from an accredited school by Department of Education), but most likely the actual nursing/clinical courses would need to be taken within the classroom setting.
Here is a website with general info on various careers: US Occupational Outlook Handbook http://www.bls.gov/oco and can type into search ‘registered nurse’ or such.
