You will probably not find many that will hire you with no experience. Fresh out of school you really will need to either go directly into a specialty area or go on a med surg floor.
Let me tell you why, this is not only good for your employer , but also good for you.
Nursing school will only prepare you enough to go into the real world and not harm someone. your real experience comes from actually working on the floor and being totally responsible for your patients. when you are a travel nurse you are telling the prospective hospital that you are competant enough to perform unsupervised on your own with a minimal amount of training. trust me when I say that fresh out of ns you are not ready to say this.
Travel companies will accept you with about one year of experiance, but I would reccomend having 2-3yrs.
I started out as you did I was an cna then lpn then became an rn/bsn. to answer the next part of your question, I would advise that you go to an actual school to become an rn. when I started that journey I was so perturbed that the university I went to would not even recognize my lpn degree. I had to take every nursing course just like all the others from off the street. they would not even let me out of the basic med surg course. then I actually had to begin the courses. again, i was not even remotly ready for what being an rn really entails it is a much higher level of expectation and education that is required. by the end of my schooling I could clearly see why my lpn degree was not recognized. Hope this helps you and good luck with your endeavors.

Traveling nurses need to be experienced. Call and talk to an agency as to how much they look for. Also, ask if they use LPNs at all.
