I Am 34 Years Old And Was In The Army, Since Then I Have Wanted To Join The Navy?

This Question From Navy LPN Programs | 7 Answers

but wanted to go back to school and get my Accounting degree and LPN certificate, my questions: 1- will the navy take ALL my certificates 2- what is the age limit for joining the Navy 3- Does anyone know of any type of training so that I could get myself into shape, where I have enough time so that it is “second nature” to me and not a rush job 3- what are the requirements for me joining the Navy, other than age I mean the physical requirements, push-ups, sit ups, etc…? Thanks.

Last I heard the Navy isnt taking prior service. You could always go into the Army Reserves, get a $15,000 Prior Service enlistment bonus, get your MOS changed to 44C Finance Specialist. Have the Army Rerserve pay 100% of your tuition for college. You’d keep your rank and get your medical benefits back. Push-ups min 15, Sit Ups min 42, run min less then 20:30. You can always start doing PT with the reserve recruiter.

You need to talk to a Navy Recruiter, rather than ask this in here.
That being said, while I do not know current Navy policies regarding Other Service vets, or the age limits, I do know that in the past, candidates who came in with special skills and certifications that the Navy needs were granted waivers.
This may be true in your case. Again, talk to a Recruiter.
Physically, at the beginning of boot camp, you should be able to do at least 15 pushups and 45 situps, and be able to run non-stop for at least twelve minutes. As training goes on, they will increase the numbers, but you should have no problem getting in shape.
I had recruits who couldn’t do a single push-up at the beginning, but still managed to pass the final PT. I called ‘em jellyfish. Among other things!

1: they will take NONE of them. civilian certs do not transfer to the military. the Accounting degree will guarantee you E3. nothing else.
2: 35 for AD, your years AD in the Army will be taken off yoru current age.
as for the rest of your questions: they can be googled easily or just call a recruiter.
the Navy is not taking ANY prior service unless you can go directly into an undermanned rating with NO additional training at all. depending on how long you have been out you would have to completely redo boot camp.

35 is the maximum age for the Navy. If you have a bachelors degree in Accounting you might be able to go to OCS. But the time is ticking since you are 34. Certificates don’t mean anything its sad but true. As for the physical requirements for the Navy you have to be able to run 1.5 miles in like 14 minutes. You have to be able to do like 40 pusups in 2min and like 35 situps in 2min. One thing also is that since you were in the Army you will have to go to Great Lakes Illinois for like 4 weeks for a transition program for the Navy. It’s like bootcamp but not really you will learn navy terminology ranks etc. etc. You will also get back into shape while there. I am not sure if this still exists but I think you have up to 20yrs to go back in the military from the time you got out since it’s not like you are first joining but that might just be for going back in the branch you started in I am not sure about switching.

I went from the Army to the Navy in 1997 at 29. I’ve been in the Navy ever since and am very happy with the decision. I went back to the Navy recruiter over a period of months to get in, but they finally let me join. For the most up to date information on qualifications, contact a recruiter. I’ve included the link to the Navy Nurse Corps which should give you all you need to contact someone and get answers.
    Good Luck!

Navy is being super picky right now. Your total best bet at 34 (and with your stated goals) is to go back to the Army. They will give you a better deal.

I would hurry up and ask the Navy because once you turn 35 the Navy just isn’t an option anymore.
