    First, you should check with the Nursing Board of your state. But, to my knowledge, only Registered Nurses, Paramedics and Physicians are authorized to carry out Gastric intubations and IV catheter placements. In fact, these two procedures {as well as Foley catheter insertions and several others} are still considered to be minor surgeries; for convenience and time-saving reasons, Registered Nurses are allowed to carry them out. In my state, LPNs aren’t allowed to do any of them; but as rules may vary from one state to another, your first step should be to check with Arizona’s Nursing Board.
