I really really want to attend college for nursing and I don’t know where to start?

This Question From Indiana LPN Programs | 3 Answers

I am 23 and a mother of three children. Two are school age and I also have a seven month old. My husband works full time on first shift and I work part time on second shift and weekend first shift. It is a dream of mine to become a nurse and I don’t know where to start. I have been searching for online courses.. are there any out there? I can’t go to school everyday with a baby and a job. We live comfortably but what can i do to get free money for school, if I take out more student loans we will not have any money left to live our comfortable lives. Is there a quick program to get my lpn online or part time in Indiana? I am in the Huntington, Fort Wayne area. Please, Please help. I want this so bad… just so hard with a family and work and wifely duties. Thank you

Wow, you are a busy mom. I applied for financial aid and it paid for my undergraduate classes and books. I am a mother of two and didn’t work at the time, my husband works, so I did get a bigger check. Financial aid is a good start for you. You should look into a school like a vocational/tech medical school near you and see how many classes you will need…if you don’t qualify for aid and you really want to go…taking one class at a time will get you closer to your goal….LPN is better than CNA….go for it….You can do it. It is possible.

I’m not sure of any programs in your area. However, I can tell you that you cannot earn any sort of nursing license (LPN or RN) by just doing an online program. You need to do clinicals in hospitals to get a feel for what being a nurse is like. It generally takes one year of being a full-time student to get your LPN license and two years full-time to get your ADN (associate’s in nursing). The ADN makes you eligible to sit for the NCLEX test which, if you pass, grants you an RN license.
