    Not really. An online school does not give you any actual patient care experience. I know that California, and I assume the other states as well, has a “patient care hours” requirement that you must fulfull before you can even take the licensing exam. In California, you only need an AA degree in Nursing before you can be licensed and practice the profession. After you get that, an online school for the Bachelor’s Degree would work beautifully. If you are working in a hospital, most have tuition reimbursement programs that would pay for you to get your Bachelor’s Degree.

  2. Yes, indeed. Check out Excelsior College in Albany NY. Fully accredited distance learning, used to be a division of SUNY Albany (State University of New York) It is well respected, and their grads frequently go on to grad school.
