LPN looking to transfer to LPN-RN program in Ohio, but wondering if it will transfer back to NY?
This Question From Ohio LPN Programs | 1 Answer
I will graduate as an LPN very soon at my college. However, this college is HORRID. I have researched and found places like Excelsior College (that would be a LAST resort for me, as it is limited to certain states). The best option I have found, at this point, is Chamberlain College of Nursing. They have an LPN-RN transition program. I would be able to take classes online, and it looks like I would have to fly/live there for clinicals. That’s no big deal to me. I just want to finish my RN license. The school I am at is GHETTO. It’s in The Bronx and full of a bunch of wack @$$ Jamaicans and rude black teachers…and unfortunately..I’m the only white kid, so let’s just say they don’t play favorites with me.
NYC is way too competitive and Chamberlain seems like the best bet. Graduating from Chamberlain would allow me to sit for the Ohio boards..however, I plan to move right back to NYC after I am finished. I emailed the NYS dept. of education…and cannot receive a reply. I don’t want to become a Registered Nurse in one state, only to find out I cannot work in another state. I’m really only interested in being able to work in New York, California, and perhaps Texas…as that’s where my family resides…anything else is just extra sprinkles on top
. How do you go about with this?
I’m telling you..the college I am at now…reverse racism at it’s finest and it’s making my life a living hell…my health has little crashed because of it and I’m really just trying to make it out with my LPN certificate and continue elsewhere. Please help!

You can take the NCLEX in any state (I did my school in Kansas but took my test and got my license in Oklahoma). Some states accept your nursing license (the pact states, and I am not sure which ones they are, except for California), others you have to pay to get a license for that particular state. So yes, you could be licensed in all three states. You would not have to take the NCLEX all three times, you just pay to get a license.
Google BON (Board of Nursing) for the various states you are interesetd in. There should be a website that will help with many of your questions.
