LPN vs RN in maternity nursing?
This Question From LPN Nursing Training | 2 Answers
I am currently attending a community college but I’m realizing I’m going to be there much longer than I would like. I need to start making some money so I’m looking to go to a training program for nurses. It only offers a LPN. does anyone know if I can still practice maternity nursing as a LPN and not an RN. I will eventually go to a RN, but I need to be making some sort of money in the mean time. Thanks for your help!

I have lots of respect for nurses, they have a tricky job, but still many peeps are attracted to this job. I uncovered some good tips and tricks on the website in the box below, it aided my sister to set out on the track to becoming a nurse, she is in her inaugural term of training now.
That depends, but generally LPNs are being phased out of most hospitals because in many ways their scope of practice is too limiting and the RNs do all the assessments and everything anyway. LPNs cannot attend to laboring women, at the most they could work in maternal-newborn. It’s cheaper to hire CNAs. You could contact some hospitals in your area and ask them directly if they hire LPNs into their birthing units.
Are you taking out student loans to help supplement your income while in school? That’s how I survived the 3.5 years of nursing school without a job. I lived off the loans. Student loan debt is not “bad” debt, it is an investment in your future, and once you’re an RN you’ll definitely be able to afford the reasonable payments with low interest. Good luck!
