What you call fun & what I call fun could be two different things.
    1. Visit the Badlands, yes North Dakota has them also.
    2. Visit & hike the many trails of the T. Roosevelt National Park, Exit 24 or 27 I-94
    3. Visit the many Indian Reservations such as Turtle Mountain, Fort Berthold Indian Agency, Fort Totten the list goes on and on.
Stop in and see if there is anything “YOU” can do to help these indians plight. Ask if you can volunteer in some capacity.
In Bismark, visit Lewis & Clark displays concerning the Missouri River.
Explore Minot and the area. See if you can figure out what goes on at Minot AFB and return.
Visit Fargo site of the famed movie “Fargo”.
I didn’t think too much of North Dakota until I visited it. There are many beautiful sites in the state.

i am a resident of nd and as i get older, i appreciate it more and more.
like the poster above said, the badlands are actually really fun. my hometown is a little more than 30 mins. away and we love to go there in the summer for the day.
the badlands and medora are synonomous. if you like meat, check out the pitchfork fondue, where they use a pitchfork to deepfry steak. sounds greasy (it is) but its fun to meet other tourists from all over the country and canada. after that, there’s the medora musical and the grogeous amphitheater in the hills. there’s the cowboy hall of fame, theodore roosevelt national park, horse rides and maah daah hey trail (which my boyfriend helped build!). You must go to the chateau de mores, i’ve been there like 6 times in the past 3 years. so much to do for such a small town. you’ll love it.
east about 30 mins. is dickinson, nd. my hometown and a place to some shopping and eating. 40 mins. north is killdeer and the killdeer mtns. the medecine hole is the famous attraction there. just further north is sakakawea lake to do some boating, fishing and camping.
further east, bismarck and mandan have more shopping and eating as well as ferry rides on the missouri and the best zoo in nd.
on the very eastern edge, fargo and grand forks have their scenic campuses (i prefer ndsu in fargo, well, cuz i pay $10,000 a year to make it look nice) and many attractions to take part in there. there’s all sorts of museums, zoos and attractions here. concerts at the fargo dome or alerus center. i-29 is a nice scenic drive along the red river.
nd isn’t the barren, remote backwards state everyone believes it to be. there are genuine people here with proud cultural traditions. guarentee you’ll find some of the nicest people around in nd.
