Nursing???

This Question From Missouri LPN Programs | 2 Answers

QUESTION:

I was wanting to know some information about nursing. I am going to go into a 1 yr LPN school and I was wondering what jobs I can get with that degree. ( I hurt my back in a car accident and can’t lift too much) I am wanting to work with children or babies. Can someone help with the salary range –Missouri—Eventually go and get my RN.
Any information will help! THANKS~~

I live in Oklahoma and have been an LPN for 18 years. I have worked in ER, OR, student health center, skin care clinic and now private nursing. I would say the best job for your back problems would be in a clinic setting. This is unfortunately the lowest paying position. Hospitals generally pay more, but I am making more now that I work in private nursing. I don’t get any benefits however. There are so many jobs for nurses that you can get one in a day. You can work in prisons, nursing homes, doctors offices, specialists offices(plastics, dermatology, etc) hospitals, surgery centers, va hospitals, pediatricians office, skilled nursing centers, retirement communities…just look in the Sunday paper.

AN LPN DEGREE ALLOWS YOU TO WORK IN PRISON INFIRMARY,ALL SCHOOLS AND MOST DRS OFFICE WHERE THERE IS LITTLE TO NO LIFING AT ALL. I WOULDNT FLAUNT MY BACK INJURY IF I WERE YOU AS IT WILL PREVENT YOU FROM GETTING A JOB.AS FAR AS WHEN YOU GET YOUR R.N. THERE ARE MANY OTHER FACETS OF NURSING SUCH AS PEDIATRICS,SOCIAL SERVICES WHERE THERE IS MINIMAL LIFTING.
