As a 1991 graduate of Dickson’s program let me give you the low down. Many community colleges such as Columbia have bridge programs for LPNs. You pass an entrance exam and they basically give you 1 semester of the 2 yr. program. I wish I had just went straight to the RN program, because there are more opportunities for free money. Hospitals will pay you money to repay student loans and even moving expenses for an RN…not an LPN. Over the last 15 years I have watched our job opportunities as LPNs dwindle. I have been replaced by RNs in 2 different fields I loved. The upside is you can make a decent living with 10 1/2 months of school. Good luck!
