Want to become an LPN- HELP?

This Question From Virginia LPN Programs | 1 Answer

I want to get a career in nursing. I have read that it only takes a year to become an LPN. True? And could I work in a womans care/maternity center as an LPN? If so, is there a special program for that, or is it all the same? What do i need to look for in a school as far as accreditation? Anyone know of any good schools around Virginia beach/Hampton Roads?? I’m so confused!
PS) I know everyone says its better to go for my RN, but really i don’t want to. And I dont have the time to now because im oregnant and need a career fast. I plan on doing this a while after my son is born

What a great career choice! Check out a community college near your home. Junior Colleges usually offer a LPN program as well as a RN program. Just in case you decide to attend a vocational school or a private school make sure you do your homework. When interviewing your choice of school, ask if they are accredited. This is important! Just in case if you wish to further your education to the next level, it is important to have graduated from an accredited school. Also ask for records of their pass rate at the state boards. This is also of great importance, a class pass rate at the state level of 99% + would be safe. Even if you pass your class and you don’t pass your state test—–you don’t work. Your choice of school must be proficient in grooming you to conquer state boards. Enjoy.
