What Is Training Like In The Army M6/lpn Program Like?

This Question From Army LPN Programs | 1 Answer

I am currently a 68W deployed and thinking about re-enlisting for this school. What is the quality of training and difficulty? It seemed like 68W AIT was extremely rushed and I came to my unit somewhat lost even though I was an honor grad? What is the daily schedule ie. pt and useless formations all day?, and what settings are most M6′s working in hospitals, health clinics? This is my second time deployed to Iraq in an infantry unit and am considering either this school or getting out, thanks for the info.

hey just ran across your question. I’m curently in M6 school at Fort Bliss. The training is not like 68w and there are less formations. There are somethings like our class hosting a Easter egg hunt for the community and there are still formations but they are not as long. We don’t have to march everywhere.
The daily schedule: the first few months we went to school 5 days a week. Now we have class 2 days a week and clinicals the other three days. The clinical can be fustrating at times because sometimes there is a low census or the patients don’t need much caring for, so we study or sit for 5 hours. On school days we pt at 0530, get back home at 0630, then be at the school house at 0745. Class is from 0800 to 1100, lunch , then back to class at 1300 until around 1530-1600. Clinical days my squad will get to the hospital at
0620 work untill 1100ish have a post clinical review and then we’re done for the day. Other squads spend more time at clinicals, it depends on your clinical instructor.
The instruction quality varies with instructor. It’s powerpoint and a few labs. The instruction seems slow at times almost too slow. The schedules for classes are constantly changing slighlty. The difficulty of the material is about the same as medic training, just much more information.
Most m6 will be working in hospitals. We’re told that about half our class will be going to Korea. I don’t know for sure. We’re also told that we could end up as medics.
It’s a school and has it’s bad and good moments. It sort of depends what your goals are and if you want to get the education in the army.
    Hope it helps some.
