When I Go To The Navy In Get My Lpn Or Bsn Is That Considered Being A Rn Since They Dont Train You To Be One?

they dont train u to be a rn in the navy….so what is equivalent to a rn in the navy????…and what are some more categories i could look into dealing with medical?

    The navy nursing equivelent is a coreman(sp?), but it does not qualify you to work as a RN or even a LPN on the civilian side. Both categories of nursing require passing the NCLEX (state boards) in order to even get approval to take the NCLEX you will have to have a degree through a state approved school. My advise to you would be to bipass enlistment and look toward going to school for a RN-BSN. Then look toward the military for reembursement on your schooling. At that point you will then be an officer in the military and a nurse.

    RN means registered nurse. you need to pass a state test to be certified as a registered nurse.
    BSN means bachelor of science in nursing. it will give up the nursing skills. You will still need to take and pass the test to be a RN. Most people do specific studying to pass the test (outside the BSN program).
    LPN means licensed practical nurse. you need to pass a state test to be licensed. An LPN is a level below RN.
