Where can I apply for Grants for LPN School?
This Question From Missouri LPN Programs | 2 Answers
Hello. I am going to LPN school in the fall at a local technical school. I already did the fasfa and got a small grant from them. I need to know if there is any grants out there that will help a single mom pay her bills as she get though the year of LPN school. I am the only source of my income and the school tells me that I should not work during the program. I don’t know how I would make it unless I can find a grant to help me. Please help. FYI I am in the state of Missouri if that helps any.

The fafsa is the ONLY source for all federal and state grants. If you do not get enough grants to cover your school expenses, you can opt to take out a federal student loan in addition to the grant to help out. If the school insists you can’t work while doing the program and you have little kids that you need to take care of, consider moving in with a relative (mom or sister) to help out. That is what my mom did.
Also, you need to comparative shop for LPN programs. Some of those are at “For-Profit” schools and you pay an arm and a leg for this certificate program that you can get down the road at the local community college for 1/4th the cost. Your “small grant” will go a lot farther at a school costing less money. Just be sure you are an informed consumer of your education program.
I agree with the 1st answer. You should be careful because those smaller local schools are ridiculous, and some aren’t as legit as they seem. I am going through the same thing & looking for a good but cheap school to become a LPN & then RN. You have to do a LOT of research & comparing. Do a LOT of googling. Good Luck to you !
